Formerly the site of Prestwick Public school, the construction of the building dates back to 1845.
In the mid 1800’s coal mining in the Prestwick area caused a population explosion which prompted the first purpose built school in Prestwick.

After WW2 it became Prestwick Junior School but was later downgraded and renamed Prestwick Primary School in 1959.

The school closed in 1971 and was later taken over by South-Ayrshire Council and opened it’s doors as a comunity centre in May 1976.
